John A. Logan hosts World Food and Music Day

Carterville, Ill. (KFVS) – Students at one Heartland university got a taste of different cultures around the world at John A. Logan’s World Food and Music Day.

Representatives from 16 different countries came out to dish up food from their cultures, share information and showcase music and dance.

The theme for this year’s event was “A Whole World of Flavor to Explore and Enjoy.”

Toyin Fox, John A. Logan’s director of equity and inclusion, said it was an opportunity for students to broaden their horizons.

“It’s important to learn about what’s going on around you in the world and other cultures, America is a very diverse country, and when it comes to relationships, understanding is crucial,” Fox explained.

This year the event focused on spice and how different countries utilize it in cuisine.
