Bangor named among cities with the best air quality in the world

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – If you live in Bangor, feel free to take a deep breath.

The city is ranked among the best in the world when it comes to air quality for ozone particles year-round.

Bangor came in fifth on the overall ranking after being tied for first place when it comes to the cleanest metropolitan areas in the country for ozone.

Bangor also tied for first in the category of the cleanest metropolitan areas in the country for 24-hour particle pollution.

Long Beach, California was ranked as the most polluted by ozone. Bakersfield, California, is worst by year-round particle pollution, and short-term particle pollution.

The cities on the list of the cleanest for year-round particle pollution levels are ranked by their average levels of particles, as calculated by EPA.
