22 arrested for running gambling den in hotel | Delhi News – Times of India

New Delhi: A group of 22 people was arrested on Sunday for renting out two rooms in a five star hotel and running a gambling den in there. Police said out of the arrested people, five organisers were nabbed and Rs. 9.25 lakh was seized. The masterminds were identified as Atul Saini (28), Sachin (40), Sunny Badjatia (37), Arun Sharma (39), and Ajit Kumar (30).
According to a senior police officer they received a tip-off regarding the illegal gambling racket in a five-star hotel.“Following the lead, a team was assembled to conduct a raid and apprehend the suspects. In the early hours of May 5th, the hotel was cordoned off, and a raid ensued where the men were nabbed,” he said.
Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the organisers contacted their known clientele via Whatsapp, providing them with the location of the hotel. “The modus operandi involved booking two rooms under one organiser’s name, while another individual managed the players, coordinating through social media groups to communicate the venue’s location.” the officer added.
