Who’s Going to the 2024 Met Gala?

This year’s Met Gala will be a garden planted not with flowers, but with celebs. This year’s theme, “A Garden in Time,” is based on a short story by J.G. Ballard. In that story, the rich hide themselves in Arcadian splendor while unwashed and rioting poors amass outside. Timely! The Gala will be in support of this year’s exhibit, “Sleeping Beauties,” a collection of garments too delicate to ever be worn again. The first Monday in May will see stars walk the Met steps and whatever insane carpet they decide to put on it. (Last year’s toothpaste-eque affair will never be forgotten.) But just who will be attending is a closely-guarded secret. We can, however, speculate wildly.

Pretty much the only people absolutely guaranteed to show up to the Met are the event’s chairs. Planning the festivities this year alongside Anna Wintour are Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and inexplicably, Chris Hemsworth. The Challengers costume designer, Jonathan Anderson, was confirmed in attendance by Zendaya. Rihanna told Vogue that she’d be wearing her own brands to the 2024 gala, saying “I’m gonna wear Fenty something! Fenty Beauty, Fenty Skin, Fenty Savage.”

So then who is likely to attend? We can hazard a guess that Law Roach and Tom Holland will be sitting at Zendaya’s table. Her Challengers co-stars Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist seem probable as well. And if Jen is coming, Ben will be there and probably serving grump. Will his emotional support Matt Damon also make an appearance? Will Chris Hemsworth bring any of his brothers to the party? Miley Cyrus hasn’t attended since 2019, so it’s probably safe for Liam to show.

According to Us Weekly, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are probably not coming. Swift has an Eras Tour stop three days later, but she made a tighter turnaround to see Kelce win the Super Bowl. And Aimee Kim Kardashian is also rumored to not be on the list. Fans speculate that this year’s exhibit theme is shade thrown at Kardashian for wearing (and tearing?) Marilyn Monroe’s dress in 2022.

Doja Cat’s furry lewk was one of the bigger serves of last year’s gala, so she’s gotta come. And we need someone to hand out cigs in the bathroom, so Mary Kate and Ashley are in. Colman Domingo’s fits were a highlight of 2024 Awards Season, so let’s give him another chance to shine. It’s an election year, so there should be at least politician making a completely tone deaf appearance, maybe VP Kamala Harris? And obviously Cara Delevigne. Do we know if her “peg the patriarchy” top was lost when her house burned down?
