Now that the bridge is back open, it will be easier to drive to all of these events

Welcome to the weekly Port City Life newsletter brought to you by me, StarNews reporter John Staton.

Well, we made it folks. For all intents and purposes, work on Wilmington’s Cape Fear Memorial Bridge is complete, and all lanes of traffic are open to drivers. We can now get back to our regular level of heavy traffic.

Seriously, though, driving to all the stuff you need to around town, especially on the weekdays, should be slightly less stressful now. Let’s take a look at some of the events you’ll be checking out in the coming days.

Weekend weather outlook

Once we get this rain out of the way things should cool down a bit for what could be a very nice weekend. Rainy and possibly stormy on Friday, but much sunnier on Saturday and Sunday with highs near 80.

Go | See | Do

Not a ton of big events or festivals in the Wilmington area this weekend, but it’s a good weekend to check out some music, with a nice mix of local bands and touring acts from Boone, Asheville and elsewhere. Plus, we’ve got comedy, including one show that will deliver laughs for Mother’s Day, and a historic Brunswick County venue is hosting a musical revue.
