LUBBOCK, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) – Lubbock High School’s Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) organization, will host a Spring Fashion Show featuring outfits created by LHS Fashion Design students at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9th in the historic Lubbock High School auditorium (2004 19th).

The show will feature current fashion trends, with hand-made designs created by Fashion Design students under the guidance of Lubbock High School instructor, Dr. Maria Teresa Leos-Duemer. Tickets for the show are $10 per person and can be purchased at Lubbock High School in Room 2505, or at the door on the evening of the event. A portion of the proceeds from the show will be donated to Catholic Charities.

Previously, the Lubbock High FCCLA organization and Fashion Design students have partnered with Catholic Charities on various projects to help students gain experience in the merchandising, retail, and fashion industry. Students have produced fashion shows featuring clothing items from the non-profit’s thrift store, The Resale Center, and fashion design students have completed internships at the thrift store, as well.

According to Dr. Leos-Duemer, “Our students have worked so hard on their designs, and we are so excited to show them off. However, we also want to teach the students the importance of giving back to their community. This show is a great opportunity to share our talent, and our treasure with others.”

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a national nonprofit student organization that helps youth develop leadership and workplace skills to prepare for both college and careers through peer-to-peer education, community engagement, and the application of skills learned in the Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) classroom.

Catholic Charities is a local 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and Lubbock Area United Way partner agency, that provides a variety of services to Lubbock and 29 surrounding counties, including no cost youth and family counseling, emergency assistance, a food pantry, kinship resources, legal immigration services, and aid to the elderly, to families and individuals in Lubbock and many surrounding counties.
