Hazmat crews respond to Manoa Shopping Center

A possible hazardous materials incident kept Manoa Shopping Center in Haverford tied up Thursday with no determination of what made three employees ill.

First responders were called to Quest Diagnostics in the 1300 block of West Chester Pike about noon for the complaint of a strong chemical odor and three staffers feeling ill.

The strip mall was evacuated and first responders requested the county hazmat team.

Haverford Police Chief John Viola said the employees felt lightheaded. The hazmat team investigated and the building came back clear. He added the employees refused treatment and returned to work.

Crews cleared the incident about 1:45 p.m.
