Habersham County officials urge drivers to avoid travel if possible

Habersham County Public Works, Emergency Services, Sheriff’s Office, and other personnel continue to deal with the impacts of the overnight severe weather.

As of 8:15 a.m. today (Thursday, May 9), numerous roads are closed according to PIO Rob Moore.

Trees down:

  • Garrison Road
  • Echota Road
  • Daniel Road
  • Yearwood Road

Trees down with power lines:

  • Hills Mill Road
  • Habersham Mills Road
  • Alfred Taylor Road
  • Riverbend Road (There is a broken power pole with lines down)

Flooding:

  • Rock Road
  • Dicks Hill Parkways

Also, several state highways are blocked by downed trees. The list of road closures are Habersham County roads only.

Please do not travel unless necessary.

Do not cross bridges or culverts where flooding is observed and do not drive on flooded roads.

Treat any non-operational traffic signals as four-way stops and expect all downed utility lines to be energized even if buildings around them are not.
