INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. — A strange and disturbing crime caught on camera as a group of people are caught taking goslings from their mother at a busy shopping center.

Those acts were recorded multiple times around Indian Land, including the Sun Valley Commons Shopping Center.

3 people recorded throughout the weekend taking goslings from their mother and driving off.

“It’s really heartbreaking, honestly, because I know how strong the bonds are for the parents,” explained Jennifer Gordon.

The videos are especially difficult for Gordon to watch. She dedicated her life to helping birds and founded the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue.

“I can hear their distress calls in the video,” said Gordon.

Gordon was sent three videos by three different people showing the group taking the goslings. In one video, a black truck pulls up as it appears two women are cornering a family of geese.

In a different video the man in the far left of the screen drops to a knee to grab what appears to be a gosling. Two women to his right then start walking in the opposite direction, also appearing to carry goslings away from the parents.

“That just shows a complete disregard for their well-being. When you’re carrying something like that by the leg can cause a lot of damage and injuries

Gordon tells me members of the community continue to reach out to her, alerting her of more cases of this group stealing geese around town.

“I hope their intentions are just to do something nice with them. That’s what I tell myself. But more likely than not, um, it’s it’s not good what’s going to happen,” said Gordon.
