DEMOPOLIS, Ala. (WTOK) – Ryan Reynolds is a two-sport student-athlete at Demopolis High School, who’s in the top five percent of his class, has a 32 on his ACT, has a part-time job, and is involved in several extracurriculars activities including Beta Club and DECA.

With all that on his plate, Ryan knows that time management is crucial for his success.

“Every day after school, I do all of my homework before I go to practice, and then that just lets me focus all on practice, and then I go to work right after that,” Ryan said.

Ask everyone around him, and they will tell you that Ryan is an incredible teammate.

“Unfortunately, I only had him his senior year on the cross country team, but he did well. He ran hard. He was a real good team member who kept kids going on those hot days,” Ryan’s Cross Country Coach, Deborah Boykin, said.

“He’s just one of those kids that’s a likable kid for… Not just adults, but he’s easy to approach. And so it helps. Our newest team members and he makes them feel real comfortable,” Ryan’s Tennis Coach, Braswell Braswell, said.

Despite his sports, his job, and all of his extracurricular activities, Ryan doesn’t let his studies suffer.

He is always willing to put in the extra work to make sure he understands what he needs to in order to succeed.

“Several times he’s come in and said, ‘ok, can we go over this again, I’m not sure what this is. I missed this,’ or whatever. I mean, he’s just, he’s dedicated to all aspects of whatever he’s involved in,” Ryan’s Calculus Teacher, Ali Hathcock, said.

After graduation, Ryan plans to attend Auburn University, where he will pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering.

“I enjoy learning, and I enjoy Calculus and Physics, and I enjoy reading. It’s all just fun to me and, I think that’s what really gets me through the end of the day. I just want to be good at these things that I like to do,” Ryan said.
