Zendaya hailed ‘fashion icon of the year’ after Met Gala outfit change

Take a second look! 

Punctuating the Met Gala festivities with a fashion feat that’s virtually never been accomplished, Zendaya made a second appearance on the red carpet in the same night, this time wearing a 1996 Givenchy gown by John Galliano and a flower headpiece by Philip Treacy which was part of Alexander McQueen’s spring/summer 2007 collection.

Fans applauded the decked-out darling for being one of the first celebs to re-walk the hallowed catwalk in completely different couture. 

“Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I think Zendaya is the FIRST PERSON to ever walk the Met Gala carpet in one entire look, and then walk it a second time with different makeup and hair and dress and headpiece?” tweeted an impressed fashion fanatic. “I’ve never seen it done.”

“She is the fashion icon of the year!!” exclaimed another. “Look at this outfit change. I have no words to describe how amazing this is.”

“Zendaya literally never fails me. Easily this generation’s style icon and Law Roach is THE image architect!” another cheered of the “Challengers” cherub and her ever-creative stylist. 

Earlier in the evening, the 27-year-old Met Gala co-chair blew viewers away as she strutted onto the scene in Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano. 

The dress featured bands of hand-painted metallic crin, a drape and bow layered from aluminum material and iridescent organza, and a corsage hand-embroidered with natural motifs hand-painted in electric blue and emerald green. She accessorized with a feathered plumelike veil from Philip Treacy. 

Crimson cosmetics by Pat McGrath completed Zendaya’s unmatched refinement. 

From head to toe, both of the glamazon’s looks perfectly played into the “Garden of Time” dress code, which in turn complemented the Costume Institute’s spring 2024 exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”

A-listers such as Kim Kardashian, Lana Del Ray, Jessica Biel and more also rose to the fashionably flowery occasion.
