World Series Champion Dexter Fowler Graduates With Penn State Class Of 2024

Hey, Penn State baseball, need an outfielder?

Former Chicago Cubs centerfielder and World Series champion Dexter Fowler graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational and Professional Communication over the weekend. Fowler was a student marshal at his graduation ceremony.

Fowler played in the majors from 2008-21, spending time with the Colorado Rockies, the Houston Astros, the Cubs, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Los Angeles Angels. He was a 2016 All-Star and won the World Series with Chicago the same year.

When Fowler was drafted by the Rockies in 2004, his parents made him promise to finish his education and go to college.

“My parents always wanted me to go to school, so I promised them I would return,” Fowler said. “My dad negotiated into my contract that I would get four years of school paid for. I’m a man of my word, so I returned to get my degree.”

Fowler, who owns two companies and gives on-air baseball analysis for ESPN, NBC Sports, and FOX Sports, studied with Penn State’s World Campus. His ceremony with the College of Liberal Arts took place on Saturday, May 4.
