LOS ANGELES (TND) — Wayne Brady, who is known for hosting the televised game show “Let’s Make a Deal,” was involved in “a minor physical altercation” after his car was allegedly hit by a man later charged with DUI, according to authorities.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the ordeal went down in California on Sunday night.
In an email to The National Desk, Deputy M. Lucero said Brady was driving along the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu when his car collided with a car driven by an unidentified man.
Lucero said a preliminary investigation indicates the man backed his vehicle and hit Brady’s car.
During an exchange of information between the parties, (the man) allegedly heard the sirens of responding emergency services and tried to flee the scene on foot,” the sheriff’s office said. “When (Brady) tried to stop (the man), a minor physical altercation ensued.”
Lucero said the man “managed to flee on foot into the nearby neighborhood.” He added that the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station Deputies found the man about 20 minutes later in a neighborhood not far from the scene.
The man, Lucero said, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, hit and run (property damage only), and battery.
PEOPLE reported a source “confirmed Brady filed battery charges against the other driver.”
The sheriff’s office urged anyone who has information about the case to contact the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station at 818-878-1808.
The news comes three months after Brady announced he is pansexual. He shared the news on his social media accounts in August.
As someone who gets to bring joy to others daily on tv, it’s been ironic that I don’t experience it as much as I’d like,” Brady wrote on Instagram and TikTok. “I advocate mental health for all and a part of that is self transparency. In doing my work, I’ve come to see a few truths, one of them being that I want to be free to love whomever I want. This truth makes me Pan and part of the Igbtq+ family.”
A 28-second video accompanied the posts, with Brady lip-synching the Celine Dion song, “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now.” He dons a pink suit, as well as a wig of long hair.
It also features people dancing, with one waving the rainbow flag.
It’s scary as hell to say out loud but here it is,” Brady wrote. “The people I admire the most are the ones brave enough to be themselves unapologetically. This shouldn’t shake anyone’s world, but if it bothers you at all, that’s your business: I was so afraid of having my manhood questioned, but screw that. A ‘real man’ in my eyes, isn’t afraid to be honest and happy. From now on, I’ll be over here living my best life!”
Brady, who is 51 years old, rose to fame as part of the cast of the improvisational comedy television series “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” He starred alongside Colin Mochrie, who commented on Brady’s video.
“Welcome and Congratulations! Love you, my friend,” Mochrie wrote.
A person who is pansexual is attracted to people regardless of their sex or gender.
