Virtu back in Wilcox Park for 28th year

WESTERLY — Music and art will fill Wilcox Park once again this weekend at the 28th annual Virtu Outdoor Art Festival, an event that attracts thousands of people to Westerly each year during the busy Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Sponsored by the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce, the festival will feature the selected works of more than 125 artists and craftspeople from around the country who’ll set up their booths throughout the park while musicians perform throughout the grounds during the two-day event.

“According to the Oxford Dictionary, Virtu means ‘a love of fine arts,'” Lisa Konicki, the chamber’s president has said. “The talents and imaginations of artisans will combine to create the magic that is the Virtu Art Festival.”

“We’re thrilled with the caliber of this year’s artists,” Konicki said. ” We’re also looking forward to showcasing a full slate of live musical talent.”

Virtu will be held rain or shine and admission is free.
