Tennessee baseball vs Florida State game time, TV announced in College World Series

Tennessee baseball opens the College World Series against Florida State on Friday.

The No. 1 national seed Vols (55-12) face the No. 8 seed Seminoles (47-15) on Friday (7 p.m. ET, ESPN) at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska.

Tennessee is making its third trip to the CWS in the past four seasons. It has gone 1-4 in the prior two trips under coach Tony Vitello.

Florida State earned the No. 8 national seed after a 42-15 regular season and a run to the ACC tournament title game.

The Seminoles are unbeaten in the NCAA tournament. They knocked out UConn in the Tallahassee Super Regional with a 24-4 battering in Game 1 and a 10-8 win in 12 innings in Game 2.

Tennessee is 0-2 in College World Series opening games under Vitello.

The Vols were shut out 6-0 against Virginia in the 2021 CWS. Cavaliers pitcher Andrew Abbott struck out 10 in six innings as Tennessee was shut out for the third time in 68 games that season.

It ran into eventual No. 1 draft pick Paul Skenes against LSU in its opener in 2023. The Vols lost 6-3 as Skenes was dominant, allowing two runs on a walk and five hits with 12 strikeouts in 7⅔ innings.
