Shots fired at shopping centre in LaSalle on Friday evening

Shots were fired at Carrefour Angrignon, in the LaSalle borough, on Friday evening in Montreal.

Police received an emergency call around 9:10 p.m. that gunshots had been heard near the shopping centre The suspects fled before the arrival Montreal police  on the scene, where they found several shell casings on the ground and noted at least two projectile impacts on the building.

“According to initial information obtained, a vehicle approached another parked vehicle before firing in its direction. The people involved then fled inside a business, before fleeing in an unknown direction,” said Montreal police spokesperson Sabrina Gauthier.

Police did not make any arrests, however an injured 19-year-old man showed up at the hospital shortly after. His injuries are not life-threatening.

“The circumstances surrounding this person, who was allegedly injured by a stab, remain unknown,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, a spokesperson for the Montreal police on Saturday morning.

“At this time, we cannot confirm there is a link between these two events,” she explained.

Montreal police opened a separate investigation concerning this individual. Both investigations are continuing.
