Savannah Council on World Affairs hosts lecture series discussing world conflicts and solutions

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Wednesday night, the Savannah Council on World Affairs held a lecture series discussing conflicts in Ukraine and Israel, and the impacts it has on countries across the globe.

Ambassador Kurt Volker was the keynote speaker.

In the past, Volker served as America’s permanent representative to NATO and the U.S. special representative for Ukraine negotiations.

At the meeting, he said international laws sometimes create too much red tape for countries like Ukraine to properly respond in case of an attack.

“Russia is of course doing that to Ukraine, but its perfectly legitimate for Ukraine to fire at an aircraft in Russian air space that is firing missiles at Ukraine. So we’re telling them not to do that, I think that’s another thing NATO should take on, is to adopt a policy,” Volkner explained.
