Oregon and Washington square off for the chance to become the final Pac-12 Champion, and a trip to the College Football Playoff hangs in the balance.
Oregon vs. Washington Pac-12 Championship odds outlook
Oregon meets Washington for a second time this season after Michael Penix led a two-play, 53-yard game-winning touchdown drive to earn the Huskies a 36-33 win. The Pac-12 Championship is the only P5 rematch of Championship Weekend, helping to project what could unfold on Friday night in Las Vegas.
Game one was defined by the Ducks’ inability to convert a few fourth downs, proving costly in the three-point defeat. Oregon had the ball within Washington’s 10-yard line twice and failed to score on fourth down. Then, late in the fourth quarter, Oregon went for it on 4th-and-3 to ice the game and failed, leading to Penix’s game-winning drive.
Both teams were cruising to easy victories heading into the Week 7 game, and Oregon has continued crushing opponents while Washington has won a handful of nail-biters. The way each team closed out the season is the reason the Ducks are a hefty favorite and hold better odds of winning the National Championship than the Huskies.
Oregon vs. Washington best bets and odds: Washington +9.5 (-106 or better)
We predict the Ducks to win round two, but not by the significant margin expected by the oddsmakers.
Washington’s defense has been subpar on third down this season, and Oregon’s offense has been efficient when it comes to moving the chains on third down. If those numbers hold up in the Pac-12 Championship, Dan Lanning can avoid the same difficult decisions that cost Oregon dearly in Week 7.
The Huskies get off the field 61% of the time on fourth down, and time will tell if Lanning deploys the same aggressive playcalling if Oregon finds itself in similar situations as game one. Based on what we know about the former Georgia defensive coordinator, he’ll be willing to roll the dice in big moments on Friday.
Oregon has the statistical advantage in many areas on both sides of the ball, but with a ticket to the College Football playoff on the line, don’t anticipate Washington to roll over and get blown out.
Oregon vs. Washington best bets and odds: Troy Franklin and Rome Odunze to record 90+ receiving yards (+102 or better)
Troy Franklin and Rome Odunze were unguardable in Washington’s victory over Oregon. Franklin had eight receptions for 154 yards and a touchdown, and Odunze matched with eight catches for 128 yards and two scores.
The pair have combined for 2,675 yards, ranking third and fourth in FBS, with Troy gaining a 23-yard edge. Each has cleared 90 yards with ease in the last three games and will be the focal points of Oregon and Washington’s offensive attacks.
