Union-Endicott bats scorching

Union-Endicott improved to a 13-0 softball record with a second successive extra-inning escape. This one came by 4-3 in nine innings against Seton Catholic Central, following a 4-1, eight-inning win over Binghamton.

The Tigers trailed 3-0 after Teresa McKinney’s run-scoring infield single in the fifth inning. U-E responded with three in its half of the fifth, the tying run supplied by Marie Mouillessaux’s double.

In the last of the ninth, Lisa Lamey drew a base on balls, advanced to third on Michelle Wolf’s bunt for a single and scored on Lisa Jones’ sacrifice fly.

Into that win over SCC, the Tigers were batting a collective .344. Caren Osier’s .529 headed the list, with Shannon Walsh next at .475.

Clash of pace-setters

In a meeting of STAC division leaders, Johnson City came up with three sixth-inning runs to defeat Susquehanna Valley, 6-5. The rally began with Tina Stanton’s home run. Lori Czeitner and Brenda Mott followed with base hits and scored on Cris Charpinsky’s two-out double.
