Non-emergency travel restricted in Ashtabula County due to snow

ASHTABULA COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) – The Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office declared a level 3 snow emergency Saturday morning.

An additional 1 to 2 feet of snow is possible today and tonight if the lake snow hugs the lakeshore. The bullseye expected to be eastern Lake and northern Ashtabula Counties.(Meteorologist Jeff Tanchak)

The Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office said the areas affected are situated North of Route 90, encompassing the region from the Lake County line to the Pennsylvania line.

According to the post on Facebook, all roadways in the designated area are restricted for non-emergency travel.

Conneaut Police posted on Facebook that the city managers of Ashtabula, Geneva and Conneaut have been working to declare a state of emergency for the areas.

Lake and Ashtabula counties have been under a lake effect snow warning all weekend and will continue to be until Tuesday.

Snow could accumulate to about 4 feet in these counties, according to 19′s First Alert Weather team.
