Minnesota Timberwolves lost game 1 of Western Conference Finals in historic fashion | Sporting News

Just one game after making a historic comeback against the Denver Nuggets to advance in the NBA playoffs, the Minnesota Timberwolves lost game one of the Western Conference Finals in historic fashion.

Their first game after that series, the Timberwolves found a way to be on the other end of the spectrum, as they lost to the Dallas Mavericks 108-105. It wasn’t that they lost by three, but rather how they lost. The Timberwolves became just the fourth team in the last four seasons to make 12 more three-pointers than the opponent and only commit 10 turnovers. In the previous 55 such games, teams were 52-3.

Against the Nuggets, the Timberwolves got down by 20 in the second half and ended up winning the game by eight points 98-90. The larger game seven comeback before that had been 11 points and the Timberwolves obliterated it. It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see the Timberwolves come out a little flat after riding such an emotional high.

Game two is going to be a much bigger deal for the Timberwolves and will determine the flow of the series.
