Met Gala 2024 Photos: Film, TV Stars Flaunt Fashion At Annual Event

The 2024 Met Gala brought several stars from film and TV to the red carpet for the annual event in New York City.

Among the celebrity attendees at the high-profile event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art were Challengers and Euphoria star Zendaya, who wore a long, flowing black gown and a floral headdress.

Also in attendance was Les Miserables and Mamma Mia! film star and Mank Oscar nominee Amanda Seyfried, who donned a silver hairdo to compliment her silver gown with floral patterns. The dress code for the evening was “The Garden of Time” and the theme was “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”

“I’m wearing flowers and my hair is silver. It’s definitely more of a costume,” Seyfried told Variety in a red carpet interview. “I think this is the first year I’ve actually gotten into a real costume. I look in the mirror and I’m like, ‘That’s not me … There’s something richer going on.”

Asked by Variety what her alter-ego name is in the costume, Seyfried replied, “Ursula, yeah. A sexy, nice Ursula. No one told me I’m sexy. I’m just telling myself I am.”

‘Wicked’ Stars Appear Together On The Met Gala Red Carpet

Appearing side by side on the Met Gala red carpet were Ariana Grande and Cynthina Erivo, who play sisters Glinda and Elphaba, respectively in director Jon M. Chu’s film adaptation of the Broadway smash Wicked.

Grande told Variety about the emotions she experienced as she arrived on the set of Wicked, which will be released in two parts in 2024 and 2025.

“My first day on set for ‘Wicked’ was the most emotional day of my life,” Grande told Variety. “All I remember was holding hands with Cynthia and Jon and crying. And [Jon] saying, ‘Welcome to Wicked.’”

The pop star-actor told trade publication how Erivo “humanizes” Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West and in turn, Erivo said of Grande’s Glinda the Good Witch of the North, “She is so open and generous with her performance that it is so easy to be in a scene with her. You look at her eyes and you know she is telling the truth.”

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo weren’t the only film stars talking about their upcoming movie musicals at the Met Gala.

Hidden Figures and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery star Janelle Monáe discussed Atlantis — her upcoming movie musical with music hitmaker and Happy Oscar-nominated songwriter Pharrell Williams.

“I am so excited I am going to be working with Pharrell, who is a musical icon, Monáe told The Hollywood Reporter. “He’s been someone [whose music is] a soundtrack to my life.”

The musical could also be considered a soundtrack to Williams’ life since it’s inspired by his childhood in Virginia Beach. Atlantis is still in pre-production and is awaiting a release date.

‘Anyone But You’ Star Sydney Sweeney Goes Incognito At Met Gala

The normally blonde-haired Sydney Sweeney likely fooled a lot of her fellow attendees at the Met Gala Monday night by going with a brunette bob hairdo instead.

Asked by Variety if it was actually her hair or wig, Sweeney said, “I’ll never tell. You’ll see tomorrow.”

Discussing the success of her hit romantic comedy Anyone but You, Variety interviewer Mark Malkin asked Sweeney if there could be more films in the making for her and the film’s co-star Glen Powell. Malkin noted how he discussed the possibilities with Powell at the Oscars earlier this year.

“I’m not going to tell you anything,” Sweeney playfully answered.

Other film stars at the Met Gala Monday night included Marry Me and Atlas star Jennifer Lopez and Everything Everywhere All at Once Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh.
