WEST WINDSOR — Mercer County Community College (MCCC) students will present their fashion creations during the annual Fashion Showcase and Runway Show on May 3. The event takes place at 6:00 p.m. in the Student Quad Area on the West Windsor Campus.

Twenty-two students created collections that will be modeled by 45 students and staff members.

“Students have to think of an inspiration and work that through their collection,” said Fashion Program Coordinator Katina Lindsay. “They have a true passion for fashion and look forward to thematically creating their designs to display to the community.”

Students used materials like sustainable recycled jeans, old shirts, chains, spikes, sequins, and hand painted designs for their knitted, crocheted, and sewn garments.

Fashion Merchandising students planned and executed all aspects of the show. Other MCCC students are involved, including performances from the dance team and jazz band. Students from programs like Audio Production, Advertising + Graphic Design, and Photography assisted behind the scenes. Children aged 4-8 from Sprout University School of the Arts in Trenton will walk the runway as “Fashion Fairies” in custom projects.

A store front window with first-year merchandising student work will greet guests. A 50/50 raffle will raise funds for the fashion club and charities supporting prom experiences for students facing economic barriers.

“We wanted to keep community culture in the show.” Lindsay said. “We are fashion with a cause.”

Admission costs $9 for adults and $6 for seniors, students, and children. The show moves to the Gymnasium if it rains. Visit https://www.mccc.edu/fashion/ for program information.
