Mayor Wu travels to Switzerland next week, hopes to implement Swiss ideas in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Wichita Mayor Lily Wu will spend next week in Switzerland to learn about the “robust and sustainable infrastructure” of the country.

The Swiss government invited Wu and will fund the trip. The theme of the week-long journey is “Shaping Urban Landscapes for a Sustainable Future.”

Wu says she will join eight female U.S. mayors to discuss public health and safety issues, women in politics, urban governance, economic promotion, and the future of cities.

She hopes to bring back ideas and best practices to implement in Wichita. She says this hope comes as Switzerland ranks as one of the happiest countries in the world and Swiss cities Geneva and Zurich rank among the top 10 most livable cities globally.

Wu will be in Switzerland from April 20-27.
