A 40-year-old is facing multiple charges after a Saturday morning tussle with security guards at a downtown business.

The May 4 altercation occurred around 10:40 a.m. in the 200 block of Bay Street, when security guards asked a person to leave the establishment.

Police say the suspect responded by pushing a shopping cart into the security staff, “as well as punching, kicking, and biting them.”

The guards “sustained minor physical injuries” but managed to contain the suspect until police arrived.

Sault Police say the suspect was also in possession “of a knife which opens by centrifugal force.”

  • Possession of Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order x3

He was held in custody pending a hearing in Weekend and Statutory Holiday court.
