LPD: Man wanted for embezzling nearly $350,000 from business

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – A man is wanted in connection to a theft case initiated back in February.

Laredo Police say that’s when they opened a case involving David Eliud Buendia, age 29, for allegations that a human resource employee of a private business embezzled nearly $350,000.

According to the department, Buendia had embezzled the money by depositing wages of terminated employees into his account.

Crimes Against Property Investigators determined and pinpointed Buendia as a suspect and obtained a warrant for theft from the District Attorney’s Office.

David Eliud Buendia, age 29, is currently wanted by the Laredo Police Department for a pending Theft F/1 warrant. The case was initiated on Monday, February 5, following allegations that a human resource employee of a private business was embezzling money from terminated employees by depositing their wages into his account.

Crimes Against Property Investigators took over the case, it was discovered that Buendia had embezzled approximately $343,454.83, according to bank statements. The case was presented to the District Attorney’s Office, where a warrant for Theft F/1 was approved for his arrest with a bond set at $75,000, signed by Judge J. Salinas.

Buendia was last seen driving a gray 2020 GMC Sierra and a white 2020 Volkswagen Passat. Anyone with information regarding Buendia’s whereabouts, please contact Laredo Crime Stoppers at 727-TIPS to be eligible to receive a cash reward.
