Following the tragic passing of Ernie Johnson’s mother, Marjorie Johnson, and popular NCAA coach Billy Packer, the NBA world mourns for another loss. Similarly, the Lakers legend Magic Johnson penned a heartfelt note to his college coach and well-wisher. And now, Paul George and the Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Halliburton paid their respects to the legendary Pacers member in their own ways.
The Indiana Pacers management announced the passing of their former director of Media Relations David Benner via social media. Benner (67) served the role of the Pacers for nearly three decades until he stepped down in 2022. Reportedly, Benner had been battling cancer over the last decade. However, after a long battle with the illness, he passed away on Wednesday. The social media post included an official statement from the Pacers Sports and Entertainment owner, Herb Simon. Following the announcement, the NBA world expressed its grief and paid tribute to the legend.

The Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George who was part of the Pacers family between the 2010-17 seasons penned an emotional note. He took to Instagram and shared a video and image of his moments with Davis Benner along with a heartfelt note in the caption. The caption read, “One of the many lights in Indiana I was grateful to get to know! I love you bro rest in heaven.”
Moreover, several Pacers star like Tyrese Halliburton, and Rakeem Christmas expressed their grief in the comment section of Geroge’s post.

Moreover, ESPN carried out a special tribute segment for Benner, speaking about his efforts to the Pacers as a mark of honor. However, the Pacers lost to the San Antonio Spurs 110-99 on the Thursday night game.
