Jurassic World 4 Adds Obi-Wan Kenobi Villain to Cast

Rupert Friend is ready to be chased by dinosaurs. The actor, who is perhaps best known for playing the Grand Inquisitor in the Disney+ miniseries Obi-Wan Kenobi, has been tapped for a starring role in Jurassic World 4.

One week after Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey boarded the highly anticipated Jurassic World Dominion sequel, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Friend had also joined the cast in an undisclosed role. Friend, who has been acting regularly since the early 2000s, is perhaps best known for his starring role as CIA operative Peter Quinn in the 2010s political thriller series Homeland. More recently, he has begun collaborating with director Wes Anderson, appearing in The French Dispatch, Asteroid City, and his Netflix short films The Swan and Rat Catcher.

Who Else Is Part of the Jurassic World 4 Cast?

Joining Bailey and Friend in Jurassic World 4 will be Scarlett Johansson, who is no stranger to big-budgeted, VFX-heavy blockbusters, having starred in several Marvel Cinematic Universe movies as Black Widow. At this time, no other actors have been officially announced for Jurassic World 4, although franchise veterans Nick Robinson and Chris Pratt have both expressed interest in returning for the new movie. “Hey, never say never. Maybe. Maybe I return. Maybe I don’t. You’ll just have to tune in to find out,” Pratt said during a recent interview with CBR for The Garfield Movie. “I know I’ll be first in line, whether I’m in it or not.”

Jurassic World 4 was announced in January 2024. Jurassic Park scribe David Koepp wrote the screenplay for the new movie, which is rumored to be titled Jurassic City. Production on the highly anticipated installment is expected to start in mid-June in London, UK. Franchise veterans Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will produce through Kennedy/Marshall, while Steven Spielberg, who kicked off the franchise in 1993 with Jurassic Park, is executive producing through Amblin Entertainment.

Gareth Edwards Directing Jurassic World 4

Godzilla and The Creator director Gareth Edwards has been tapped to direct Jurassic World 4. David Leitch, who recently helmed the crowd-pleasing action film The Fall Guy, was initially in talks to direct the picture, but took himself out of the running after realizing that his “creative input would be minimal due to the project’s fast-tracked status.” Edwards seemingly has no problem with the fast-turnaround on the next Jurassic movie, sharing back in February that this was the “the only movie that would make me drop everything like a stone and dive right in.” He added, “To work with Frank Marshall and Universal and David Koepp, who’s writing the script, I think they’re all legends. So I’m just very excited.”

The untitled Jurassic World 4 is set to hit theaters on July 2, 2025.
