Jacquemus celebrates its fifteenth anniversary with a fashion show in Capri

Happy birthday Jacquemus! This year, the sun-drenched brand celebrates its fifteenth birthday. And what better way to celebrate than in a place that inspired the creation of the talented designer’s house? For the occasion, Simon Porte Jacquemus chose to show its Fall/Winter 2024-2025 collection within the Villa Malaparte, a breathtaking residence overlooking the Mediterranean. Vogue takes a closer look at this star-studded fashion show in 5 fashion details, from the casting to the geometric designs and the new it-bags.

A nod to Jean-Luc Godard

1 dream, 1 house, 99 steps, 47 looks, 40 guests, 25 degrees… Jacquemus’ anniversary fashion show was as intimate as it was grandiose! The starting point for Simon Porte Jacquemus’s brand, Jean-Luc Godard’s film “Le Mépris” is among the key inspirations for this Fall/Winter 2024-2025 collection: “I decided to create my brand after watching “Le Mépris” from Jean-Luc Godard, being inspired by the beauty and modernity of his vision.” The backdrop for the show is the Villa Malaparte, an architectural gem by Curzio Malaparte, featured in the Franco-Swiss filmmaker’s film, built between 1938 and 1943 on a cliffside on the Mediterranean coast of Capri.

A lesson in the art of fashion teasing

A few weeks earlier, Bella Hadid, muse and close friend of the designer, gave us a sneak preview of the collection by wearing one of the flowing white dresses from this collection, wearing the look on the Croisette for the Cannes Film Festival. A few minutes before the show began, it was Dua Lipa’s turn to deliver an exclusive glimpse of one of the blue mesh dresses seen a few minutes later on the catwalk.

An architectural collection

Stripes in various forms, whether classic, recalling Parasols or zebra-like, rubbed shoulders with monochromes, from capri blue to a soft yellow palette. Neo-goddess drapery afforded the silhouettes a new dimension of sensuality and purity, and clashed with the radical forms, such as A-line cuts.

New objects of desire

La Spiaggia, a handmade candy-like accessory, a delicious basket that was simultaneously round and square, transports us to the seaside and takes its place among the new objects of desire in leather goods, Joined by Le Bombola, a bucket bag whose angular lines place it somewhere between fashion, architecture and jewelry, sublimated by a magnetic gold ring.

A star-studded cast

Deva Cassel and Mica Argañaraz wore white looks, Imaan Hammam chose a flamboyant gown and Mariacarla Boscono went for a butter-yellow ensemble… Last but not least? Jennie Ruby Jane, of K-pop star BLACKPINK, made her runway debut in a bourgeois-chic black dress, concealing a maximalist halter top.
