NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio – In-demand Jobs Week is a celebration of the jobs, industries and skills that are in demand across the state.

Ohio Lt. Governor Jon Husted visited New Lexington City Schools to witness how a $2.5 Million Dollar Career Technical Education Grant is being used to renovate their Workforce Development Center and help expand the assorted programs being offered.

“In-Demand Jobs Week is where we highlight all of these great career opportunities that exist out there today and ways and pathways you can get the education and training to get those jobs and really, create your version of the American dream right here in Ohio,” Husted said.

Husted witnessed a welding workshop during his tour that introduced selected 4th graders to some of the basic skills and concepts that are needed to enter that industry.

“Today, we’re in New Lexington because they have really embraced this,” Husted said. “Every student, every graduating senior is going to have some form of career-tech education, which is about changing the culture, helping people understand that whether it’s welding, carpentry, being an electrician, HVAC, robotics, healthcare especially is in huge demand. All of these skills are available right here at your local high school or career center and we’re highlighting that this week.”
