How Much Americans Will Spend on 2024 Summer Travel – Peter Greenberg Travel Detective



This summer, it appears that it’s not a question of when, if, or whether Americans will be traveling, but how and how much they will spend. 


The latest research indicates that 30% of Americans say they are planning to spend more this year for their travels than last year. 


And they are willing to reshuffle their budgets for other items — cars, clothing, electronic items, and jewelry, to support that increased spend. 


This comes at a time when international airfares are expected to jump at least 14% over 2023, and domestic airfares could be up as much as 16% over last year. 


Perhaps most significant: only 4% of those surveyed say they have no plans to travel.
