Under the direction of the Creative Design Supervisor, a Staff Services Manager I (SSMI), the Graphic Designer III performs a variety of activities supporting the Planning & Modal Programs (PMP) graphic design, marketing, and digital production needs. The incumbent supports the concept development and production of graphic design work of the most complex nature and must have a keen eye for aesthetics, detail, and advanced-level proficiency with the latest design software such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro, After Effects, etc. Activities include, but are not limited to: the development of printed and digital graphic communications, web publishing, forms development, ADA remediation, as well as consulting PMP staff with their communication and design needs. The incumbent will work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop multimedia materials for print, digital publishing, and other mediums.

This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions.
