Five from training: Building fitness for Forest

The Blues were back out on the Cobham training pitch in glorious sunshine on Tuesday as we build towards our next Premier League assignment at Nottingham Forest.

Mauricio Pochettino‘s side travel to the City Ground for a 5.30pm kick-off on Saturday aiming to build on a solid run of form having gone three games unbeaten.

The most recent in that sequence was Sunday’s 5-0 win over West Ham United and Pochettino says his side will aim to maintain those high standards in our remaining three fixtures, as the Blues chase European qualification.

‘The objective for us is to be mature and to keep the momentum and to compete, improving in every single game,’ Pochettino said.

‘We are going to try to be in Europe. It’s going to be good for the team and the players to be in Europe next season.’

Nicolas Jackson was one of those spotted working hard in the Surrey sunshine, having scored twice in the win over the Hammers.

That brace took our Senegalese forward onto 13 Premier League goals for the season, 16 in all competitions, with three games still to play.

Meanwhile, defender Levi Colwill was once again in training as he continues to work his way back to full match fitness.

Colwill was back on the bench for the win against West Ham and although he remained an unused substitute, the 21-year-old will be aiming for another place in the matchday squad against Forest.

One player who did get some time on the pitch on Sunday was Malo Gusto after overcoming a recent knee problem, appearing as a late substitute for Trevoh Chalobah.

And the French full-back took part in training on Tuesday as he works his way towards full match sharpness.

The reverse game against Forest back in September ended in a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.

But the bright point of that day was forward Cole Palmer making his Blues debut following his deadline day signing from Manchester City.

Eight months on from his first appearance, Palmer was back in training preparing for a trip to Forest, as he looks to add to his 21 goals so far this season.
