Charles Barkley’s gambling was so bad he quit, until friends told him the brutal truth about his righ-rolling

If you’re familiar with Charles Barkley beyond just simple name recognition, you’re probably aware the man like to gamble.

The Hall of Fame basketball player and TNT analyst isn’t shy about his affinity for action, often discussing his favorite bets live on air. We’re all familiar with his love of golf too, and it apparently doesn’t just begin and end with sports.

Chuck also likes to gamble at the casino. But there was one point his high-rolling got a little out of hand, as he explained on the latest episode of Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast. Barkley couldn’t leave a table until he either won a million dollars or lost a million dollars. And like most gamblers, he was losing more often than winning.

After losing enough, Barkley did the reasonable thing and quit gambling for two years. But once he got the itch to go back, his friends told him the truth about why he was losing so much money.

“They’re like ‘Dude, why can’t you win $300,000 and say man we had a great weekend? Why you got to win a million? Why can’t you lose 300 and say we still had a great weekend?’,” Barkley said his friends told him.

“You ain’t got to win a million or you ain’t got to chase it and lose a million.”
