U.S. air travelers have endured nearly 13,000 flight delays and cancellations since Wednesday of the Thanksgiving holiday, and the disruptions may continue, with the busiest travel day—Sunday, Dec. 1—still ahead.As of 7 a.m. Saturday, there were already nearly 800 flight cancellations and delays nationwide. Texas—which is home to some of the busiest airports in the US—has already seen nearly 60 cancellations and delays across major airports in Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio on Saturday.
Airlines are encouraging passengers to check flight statuses before heading to the airport, though no waivers have been issued for weather-related changes or cancellations. Meanwhile, the Transportation Security Administration is gearing up for record-breaking passenger numbers, advising travelers to arrive early and pack smartly.
